to 2018, and beyond!

Our road-map of planned activities, starting September 2018.

We will begin consultations with educationalists to make appropriate adjustments and provisions for the SAL program starting July, and by September of 2018, we intend to begin recruitment of teaching staff for our SAL Program. Vacancies will be advertised and qualified persons can apply, We strongly recommend young, recent university graduates to apply for teaching positions.

Training of teaching staff and resource acquisition

After staff recruitment is complete, we will begin teacher training as well as resource acquisition. The resources to be acquired include: Student reading and writing material, uniforms, school shoes, school bags, whiteboards, desks and chairs, operational and transport fees, and feeding. You can check a full list of required resources here.

Once all resources are gathered, and teaching staff are duly trained, the program will be scheduled to commence by January of 2019.

How early we are able to start, and how effective the program will be is greatly determined by how much resources are available to us.

Other programs such as the youth ambassador program will also commence by September and run parrallel to the SAL program. If you know someone or are interested in becoming a youth ambassador yourself, please sign up here.

DESIGNED TO PERMIT SCALING

The SAL Program is designed to be upscaled in the future, Though we are starting small, with 30 students and a few teaching staff, our pilot year will help inform necessary changes, and scaling, if resources permit.

We will conduct termly and annual program reviews and make appropriate adjustments. By July of 2020 (end of pilot phase) we will get a much better understanding of what works and what doesn't. The summer of 2020 will be used to prepare for subsequent years.

By 2022, we intend to greatly improve literacy rate and learning capacity of all 30 students and are currently placing our success benchmark at 80% pass rate. Top students that qualify for a scholarship will be transfer to a private school where they will complete their primary school. Other students that don't qualify for a scholarship will be added to our guardian angel database and can be sponsored through third party.

By 2023, we conclude our first program cycle, make appropriate adjustmets and get ready for the next cycle.

We will repeat this process, five years at a time, making adjustments as we go, till we record a significant improvement in academics and vocational skill throughout our area of operations.

With more resources, we will be able to run programs symultaneously across communities.

A future where every child has equal learning opportunity

By 2033, we want to record a significant improvement in student academic performance, student-staff ratio, teaching quality and overall vocational capacity throughout our area of operations.

All of our programs are designed with adaptability in mind and we are open to making changes that improve the effectiveness of our work.
